Driving Tests To Be Trialled At Halfords
Halfords in Watford have been chosen to trial a new scheme for driving tests.
Halfords has been chosen by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) as part of its plan to provide driving test premises away from traditional test centres.
Tests might also be conducted in future at some universities, while there is also the possibility of involvement by the Fire and Rescue Service.
Tests will continue to be conducted by DSA examiners.
Watford is amongst five trial locations including- Glasgow, Manchester, Worcestershire and Kettering.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said today:
"It is vital that public services are as open and accessible as possible. This initiative is a great example of how working with partners in the public and private sectors can help to ensure that we offer people the best possible service wherever they live.
"Our aim is to provide all driving test candidates with a local service that is convenient as well as being cost effective."
Halfords chief executive David Wild said:
"We want to help motorists wherever we can, so we look forward to working in partnership with the DSA to provide a first-class service for drivers taking their tests."
Sophie runs a driving school in Watford- she thinks it’s a good idea:
“Halfords will be a bigger car[park in a much better area and probably on a much better surface as well so if anything it will probably help the pupils in Watford”
