Fatal Fire "Accidental"
Hatfield: Bodies Of Two Horses Found In Field
Police are appealing for information and witnesses after the bodies of two dead horses were found in a field close to Wild Hill, Hatfield.
It is believed the bodies of the horses were dumped at some point between Saturday, January 26 and Monday, January 28.
The horses - a Mare and a Filly - were described as bay (a reddish brown). The mare had no white markings and the Filly had four white feet. Although the horses were thin, they did not appear as if they had been neglected and it is not known how they died.
Investigating officer, PC Amanda Matthews, of the Rural Operational Support Team (ROST) said: "We are making inquiries with the RSPCA to help identify the owner of these horses and to find out what has happened to them.
The horses must have been driven to the location is some sort of vehicle. I am therefore appealing to anyone who was in the area between the stated times and may have seen a horse box or vehicle, which the animals could have been transported in, to contact police as soon as possible.
I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who recognises the horses from the description given."
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Matthews on the police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
