Police have released pictures of necklaces and earrings they're trying to trace after two burglaries in Harpenden.

Thieves broke into two flats in The Cedars between 8am and 11pm on Wednesday 2 March 2011.  Police say a number of items were taken from both addresses, including jewellery and electrical equipment.

Thieves then got into two houses on Oakfield Road, Harpenden between 4.45pm and 10.30pm on Thursday 4 March 2011.  A number of items were taken from both houses, including jewellery and a Spanish horse ornament.

Among the items stolen were a crystal necklace and matching earrings, mesh design earrings with yellow, white and rose gold, an 18 carat white gold and diamond necklace with crucifix and Dior blue butterfly dangled earrings.

Also taken were a gold bracelet, a white gold ring with blue sapphires and diamonds, a Patek Felippe 18 carat gold and diamond watch, and a crystal-topped ring with small diamonds on a band under crystal.

PC Scott Curran, who's investigating, said: "We believe these burglaries are linked and I would encourage anyone recognises these items or thinks they have seen someone trying to sell them to come forward.

I am also appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity around these buildings before or during the time the burglaries took place, or who has any other information in relation to the crimes, to contact me."

Anyone with any information on these burglaries if asked to call PC Curran via Hertfordshire Constabulary's non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
