Man Charged With Att Murder After Hemel Balcony Fall

A Hemel Hempstead man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman fell from a balcony in the town.

Officers from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have been investigating since officers were called to Waterhouse Street at 3am to reports a woman had fallen from a balcony. The woman, who is 21 years old, suffered serious injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

John McAleer, who is from Belsize Road in Hemel Hempstead, will appear before Hatfield Remand Court this morning (July 2).

Detective Chief Inspector Jerome Kent from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit is leading the investigation and said: "I would be keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or who has any information about the events leading up to this incident and would ask them to please call the Herts Police non-emergency number 101."
