St Albans Meat Theft

Police have released pictures of a man they want to speak to after £300 of meat was stolen from a St Albans petrol station.

The meat was taken from the Sainsbury's petrol station on Marshalswick Lane on three occasions during December 2012 and January 2013.

A hundred pounds' worth of meat was stolen between 5.50pm and 6.10pm on Wednesday 30 January. A member of the public challenged the man involved.

Two hundred pounds' worth of meat was stolen the week before that, between 6.12pm and 6.19pm on Thursday 24 January.

There was also an attempt to steal £23 of meat between 2.30pm and 3pm on Monday 17 December 2012.  A member of staff challenged the man involved on that occasion, who left empty-handed.

St Albans North Neighbourhood Officer, PC John Cooper said: “We would appreciate the public’s help in trying to identify this man caught on CCTV.  We continue to work with shops across St Albans, many of which now have CCTV.   If this image is of you or you know who he is, please get in touch with us.  You can remain anonymous.”

Anyone with information on his identification is asked to contact PC John Cooper on 01727 796042 or via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
