NHS Herts Abandons Plans For New Hospital

The NHS in Hertfordshire say they've abandoned plans for a new hospital and instead they'll concentrate on improving the three hospitals part of the West Herts NHS triangle.

NHS bosses made the announcement last night and it comes despite a lot of support for a brand new hospital from residents for one.

The West Herts Clinical Commissioning Group said it's the only realistic option otherwise the health service risked being at the back of a very long line waiting for precious NHS funding.

The group now want redevelop St Albans hospital and for Watford they'd consider plans for a complete rebuild of the site instead of a brand-new hospital near junction 20 of the M25.

The CCG will now looking at drawing up those plans before any firm proposals are put forward.
