Ornamental Horses Stolen

28 July 2011, 09:49

Police are trying to find people who saw anything suspicious after two large concrete horses were stolen from a back garden.

Thieves got into a shed in the back garden of a house in Kings Langley and took a wheelbarrow to transport the statues.

They were taken from the home in Old House Lane between 10pm on Thursday 14 July 2011 and 10.45am on Friday 15 July.

The statues are made of solid concrete and are extremely heavy to lift. The base of each statue is approximately 250mm by 450mm and 750mm to 800mm in height.

Investigating officer PC David Herring, said: "When the statues were delivered to the owner, they were so heavy it took three people to offload them from a van. I imagine therefore it would have taken at least two people to remove the statues from the garden and load them onto a vehicle.

"I'd like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity during the suspected times of the incident. Perhaps you saw an unfamiliar vehicle in the area or did you see what may have appeared to be work men lifting heavy items into a van?

"I'd also like to speak to anyone who may have been offered any horse statues for sale."
