The family of a 13 year old hit by two cars at a pelican crossing in Hertfordshire have paid tribute to him.
Daniel Handscombe was struck by both a Fiat 500 and a Vauxhall Corsa on Shenley Lane, London Colney, at 5pm on Monday 17 December 2012.
It's not yet known exactly how Daniel came to be hit.
Daniel lived in Norris Close, London Colney. He leaves behind his mum Sam Day, his dad Colin Handscombe and his family and many friends.
In a tribute to Daniel, his mother Sam said: “Daniel was born in Hemel Hempstead in May 1999 and he was a beautiful baby. We were always getting stopped in the street with people admiring him. He really was a joy to bring up.”
Daniel attended Bowmansgreen School before attending the Francis Bacon School, now known as the Samuel Ryder Academy.
His mum said: “Staff at the school really helped Daniel and he was very happy there. He was also a much loved brother. He would influence his younger siblings and hold them to account if they misbehaved.
“Daniel also loved listening to music such as Nickelback and Black Veil Birds. He also enjoyed listening to Bob Marley. He was a very laid back character, he hated arguments and was so sensitive and cared so much for other people’s feelings. He loved his mum, his home and having food and treats. He also enjoyed playing on his Xbox.
“We are all trying to come to terms with what has happened. This has left a massive hole in our lives. Daniel is irreplaceable. We will love him and miss him forever.”
Daniel’s funeral will take place at Garston Crematorium, Watford on Friday 28 December 2012.
