Police launch webpage for 2012 Olympics
A new webpage's been launched by Hertfordshire Police today on the day that tickets for the 2010 Olympics goes on sale.
By going online at www.herts.police.uk you can access a range of information from advice on buying tickets, how to avoid touts, and how to plan what events you want to see.
Online you can also read more about which events are being held in the county - such as the canoe slalom at Lea Valley White Water Centre in Broxbourne. Events are being held there from Sunday July 29th to Thursday August 2ns,
Ron Singleton is an Inspector with Hertfordshire Constabulary:
“The most important advice has been stressed by Lord Coe in launching the official games website – only buy from that secure website. There will be lots of information on there about the timetable. There is also a 42 day window to buy tickets so people do not need to rush and buy them today. Please don’t buy a ticket from an unauthorised web or tout, as you run the risk of being victim of a scam and not actually getting the ticket you pay for.”
Superintendent Simon Hawkins of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Olympic Planning Team has been telling Heart:
“With just 500 days to go until the beginning of the Olympics, the games are fast becoming a reality. As we edge closer to the event, we want to keep residents and visitors to the county updated of our plans by launching our Olympics webpage.
“Our planning for the event is going really well, where we are working on a number of measures to ensure this once in a lifetime experience in Hertfordshire is a safe and great time for everyone.
“We are also working with our partners such as Broxbourne Council and Hertfordshire County Council to minimise any disruption to the lives of local residents, businesses and commuters.”
