The Hospice of St Francis have had to postpone their annual garden party at Ashridge House.
Rainfall has waterlogged and made large parts of the grass parking areas around Ashridge House unusable.
The event regularly attracts hundreds of visitors and the forecast for the next two weeks promises yet more rain adding to the waterlogging problem.
Ros Taylor, the Medical Director at The Hospice of St Francis says:
“After much effort to find an alternative solution, in consultation with Ashridge we have postponed the event to July. We have made the decision at this time to give everyone, including our supporters, staff, stall holders and all in the local community sufficient notice rather than cancel at the last minute and disrupt peoples’ plans,”
The annual party has been held at Ashridge for the last five year and raises around £16k for the hospice through ticket sales, stall holder fees, refreshments and a raffle.
Anna Brown is the Hospitality Director at Ashridge House:
“It is very frustrating that we have had to postpone due to the prolonged bad weather which is having a disruptive effect on so many events up and down the country. We are hopeful that that July will bring blue skies and sun and look forward to everyone being able to enjoy this fantastic event and most importantly lots of money being raised to help the hospice in its amazing work"
The Garden Party will now take place on Sunday 15 July.
