Royal Wedding Knitting Book Snapped Up

20 April 2011, 06:00

With less than two weeks until the Royal Wedding, a book that teaches you to knit members of the Royal Wedding has been flying off the shelves.

Knit Your Own Royal Wedding has sold 50-thousand copies since it was leased last month - in the UK and abroad.

It’s written by Fiona Gobel, who lives in Chorleywood in Hertfordshire.

Knit Your Own Royal WeddingThe author, who has written a number of craft books, has been telling Heart:

“Sales have been far, far better than we expected, wildly above what we were planning to sell.

“They’re had a far wider appeal then we’ve imagined, they’ve sold to a lot of knitters and to people who want a quirky off-beat souvenir.”

The detailed designs of ten characters from the Royal Family include William’s blue Garter sash and his Golden Jubilee medal, and Kate’s diamond and sapphire engagement right and a tiny tiara.

There is also a design for the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams – who will marry the couple of April 29th at Westminster Abbey – and for corgis, the monarch’s favourite breed of dog.
