Saracens To Walk Over Hot Coal
Around 100 staff and players from the Saracens rugby club in Watford are walking over 20 feet of hot coals this afternoon. They are doing the 'fire-walk' to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis who cared for the mother of player Chris Wyles.
The care the hospice gave Chris's mother inspired him to help them fundraise and with the support of the club the Saracens have agreed to do a series of sponsored challenges.
Earlier this year the players went abseiling in Hemel Hempstead.
Fullback for the Saracens Chris Wyles came up with the idea of a fire-walk and will be joining his teammates as they walk barefoot over coals reaching 12000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Chris says: "It should be interesting to see how myself and the rest of my teammates deal with it but its something we are prepared for. We deal will some big hits on the rugby pitch so hopefully we can deal with some fire-walking"
The Hospice of St Francis care for patients with serious or terminal illness in and around the Dacorum and St Albans area. Claire De Silva from the hospice says its fantastic to have the help and support of the Saracens and that everyone at the hospice has now become big Saracens fans.
The fire walk will be taking place at the clubs training ground in St Albans at 4pm today.
