6 June 2011, 16:54

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a burglary that has robbed the victim of her recently deceased mother’s jewellery.

The incident took place in Whitelands Avenue, Chorleywood, Rickmansworth between 4.30pm on Sunday, May 22 and 9.45am on Monday May 23, when offender(s) forced their way into a house on the street and removed a number of items of jewellery, before leaving the property in an unknown direction.

The stolen items include:

  • A gold necklace with a ribbon design and sapphire
  • A gold rope bracelet
  • A gold brooch with rubies
  • A gold ring with three rubies, two pink diamonds and a cluster of diamond chips
  • A gold necklace with a pearl drop
  • A ruby and pearl milner ring
  • A gold brooch with flower shaped pearls
  • A silver macasite style bracelet

Investigating officer, PC Lewis Mortimer, said: “The items of stolen jewellery hold a great deal of sentimental value as they belonged to the victim’s mother, who recently passed away. I am appealing for anyone who was in the area between the stated times and saw anything suspicious to get in touch. Have you seen any unfamiliar vehicles in the area or did you notice someone hanging around the property?"

He added: “I’d also be interested to hear from anyone who may have been offered any jewellery similar to those listed for sale.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Mortimer on the non-emergency number 0845 3300 222 citing crime reference number C2/11/1246.

Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
