Sentimental Jewellery Taken In Burglary

Police are looking for burglars who stole sentimental jewellery from a house in Rebourn.

It happened between 2pm on Friday, January 27 and 7.30pm on Monday, February 6. The burglar(s) smashed a window to the rear of the property and drew the curtains inside before taking the items.

Some of the items stolen include:

• A square, silver compact with the initials MM and WP on.
• A gold bracelet which has ‘18th Aug 1971’ on the inside.
• A solitaire diamond and baguette white gold ring with three white gold balls soldered onto the inside to make it 2 sizes smaller.
• A Toshiba flat screen TV with built in freeview.
• A Gold Pocket watch with initials on the back.
Detective Constable Karen Webb from the Local Crime Unit at St Albans police station is investigating and said: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen or been offered these items for sale to contact us. Some of the items stolen had belonged to the victim’s mum, who passed away recently. The victim had hoped to pass them down the generations of her family.

“I would also ask for people to be vigilant if they see their neighbour’s curtains closed and this is unusual. If you are concerned please call police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Webb via the Herts Police via non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number F2/12/216. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You do not have to give your name and could be entitled to a cash reward.
