Smoking Banned In Play Areas

London Colney Parish Council has decided to enforce a no-smoking rule in some children's play areas. Smoking inside public places has been illegal for more than four years in England but only in the last year have local councils been able to enforce policies like this.
Chairman of the Parish Council, Ian Orton says "We have had a lot of complaints from people who actually object to smoking adjacent to children’s play areas mostly because of the smoke floating around, the dangers of fire and also the cigarettes ends that get left behind"
Although there won't be any penalties, the council hope people will respect the 'No Smoking' signs.
