Snow Causes Problems

A number of drivers spent Saturday night stuck in their cars on the M25 in Hertfordshire after heavy snow.

As much as 16cm of snow fell in parts of the UK in the first major snowfall of the winter on Saturday 4 February 2012.

There were reports some drivers had spent five hours in their cars in the M25 around Potters Bar and Enfield.

A number of Saturday night flights from Luton Airport also had to be cancelled because of the need to clear the runway.  Planes still due to arrive were diverted to other airports.

Drivers are being advised to stay at home where they can because of a 'cocktail of dangerous driving conditions' on the roads.
