South Oxhey Burglaries
8 April 2013, 11:52
Shopworkers in South Oxhey are being urged not to leave money in tills overnight after a spate of burglaries in the area.
Among the businesses that have been targeted are an Oxfam charity shop, although the thieves were unable to get into that store.
That attempted burglary took place between 5pm on Tuesday 2 April 2013 and 8.10am on Wednesday 3 April.
It is believed thieves attempted to jemmy open the rear door of the shop on Bridlington Road, but failed to gain access.
PC Victoria Milsome from Hertfordshire Constabulary's Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This is one of a series of crimes targeting local businesses recently, most of whom are small independent businesses.
“I find it incredibly shocking that someone would target a charity shop to steal and I am hoping that people in the community will support us in our efforts to find the person responsible.
“I would urge people to contact us about this crime or any of the recent burglaries if they have any information, particularly about who is responsible for committing them. If you don’t want to speak to police, you can provide information to Crimestoppers completely anonymously.”
Anyone with information about the incident should contact police on the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference C3/13/311.
Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
