St Albans RTC

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious road traffic collision where a vehicle failed to stop at the scene in St Albans last week.

The collision occurred at 6.30pm on Tuesday 4th January. A girl aged 16 was riding her moped along Sopwell Lane, when it was in collision with a large black car that was turning right out of Thorpe Road, close to the White Lion Public House.

The rider of the moped came off the bike and collided with a parked car. She was taken to Watford General Hospital for treatment of serious facial injuries.

PC Jeremy Flynn, from the Roads Policing Unit is investigating and said:

“I understand that a number of people gave assistance to the girl and I am appealing to these people to contact police.

“It may be that the driver was unaware that they had been involved in the collision, or that they were unable to stop at the scene. If this was you I’d urge you contact police at the earliest opportunity. Please call police via the non-emergency number 0845 3300222.”
