Absconder Appeal

Police are appealing for the public's help to trace Richard Cartwright, aged 26, who has absconded from an open prison.

Cartwright, was sentenced to five years in November 2008 after being found guilty of robbery, affray, assault and burglary charges.

He was granted to serve the remainder of his sentence at HMP Sudbury (open prison) from which he absconded on Wednesday 16 June.

Cartwright is believed to have links to the Sutton Coldfield and Tamworth areas.

He is described as white male, 6ft 1ins tall, slim build, short brown hair. Cartwright is urged to hand himself in at his nearest police station.

Anyone with information about him, or who sees a man matching his description, is asked not to approach him but to contact police by dialling 999.
