Appeal After Student's Face Slashed On Birmingham Night Out

Police have released a photo of a man they want to trace after a student was slashed across the face with a knife on a night out in Birmingham.

The 18-year-old was left with a seven centimetre pernmanent scar after he was attacked on Broad Street last month.

The teen was in PopWorld, at around 3am on March 26, at a special event organised to mark the end of a three-day Varsity sporting event between Aston University and University College Birmingham.

He ended up in an argument outside the club with his attacker before the young man took out a Stanley knife and slashed the teenager to the face.

The lad was rushed to hospital where he received treatment

The offender is described as a white man, between 5ft 11in and 6ft tall, in his early 20s, with short blonde hair which was brushed forward on top. He was wearing a khaki coloured parka coat with a fur-lined hood.

DC Stu Phillips, from the Birmingham violent crime team at Bournville police station, said: “The images of our suspect are quite clear and we need help from the public to trace him.

“We don’t believe the offender is a student and was just in the area at the time.

“Thankfully the man’s injuries were not serious but he needed hospital treatment and will be left with a scar as a result of the attack."
