CCTV After Wolverhampton Car Key Burglary
Police in Wolverhampton have released CCTV pictures of an offender after a car was stolen.
The car, an Audi A1, had been stolen from an address in Stonedown Close, Lanesfield, just before 4am on 16 February.
The thief had used a pole to reach through the letterbox and hook the car keys from the hallway of the house.
At 4.38am the same morning, the car - registration P014RYP - was caught on CCTV at Fradley Park petrol station in Staffordshire. The man then drove off without paying.
Detective Constable Tim Gee, from Wolverhampton Police, said: “Officers have made a number of enquiries to identify the driver of the Audi and we are hoping someone will recognise him and call us. The car is still outstanding and we haven’t received any sightings. If anyone recognises the man or sees the car, they should call police at Wolverhampton on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
He added: “We are advising people to be security conscious, as this type of crime can be prevented. If you have a garage, please use it and never leave your car keys on show through your letter-box or ground floor windows.”
Counter-terrorism officers were dispatched to an address in Nuneaton, thought to be connected to the Manchester Arena suicide bomb attack investigation.
Soldiers are being deployed across the UK to help police but not in the West Midlands.
