The Chief Constable of West Midlands Police has warned forces across the UK are at breaking point because of funding cuts.
David Cameron unveils railway plans in Birmingham
The Prime Minister visited a rail depot in Birmingham on Monday to announce 9 billion pounds worth of upgrades to the railways across England and Wales.
It's the biggest overhaul of the railways since Victorian times and will start in 2014.
The Government say the taxpayer funded effort will see diesel trains scrapped in favour of electric, services improved and old lines brought back into use.
But some passenger groups say they're worried that it'll see ticket prices go up.
Work is already underway at Birmingham New Street where the whole station is being redeveloped. When finished by 2015 it'll see a new John Lewis store and a tram link to Birmingham Snow Hill which is due to be connected to a new high speed line to London.
All of the more than 200 tower blocks in Birmingham are going to be fitted with sprinkler systems.
