Health experts are advising people to get themselves tested for diabetes.
Heart spoke to Mum of 3, Sandra Finch from Lichfield who found out she had Type 1 after getting tested at a local pharmacy. It showed high blood-sugar levels so she went to the doctors.
'Within an hour and half I was in Heartlands Hospital hooked up to insulin...so just check, the nurse said to me had I left it any longer, it would have been a different story, better to be safe than sorry.'
