CCTV pictures have been released after a taxi driver was assaulted and racially abused by a drunken gang in Birmingham.
The attack happened in Broad Street back on August 2nd after the men went on a night out.
The driver pulled up outside a club at around 3am after being flagged down by the group, who had asked to go to Smethwick. They refused to pay the fare in advance and got angry and violent towards the driver.
He tried to get out and get help, but when he did the group hurled racist insults to him and punched him, leaving him with a fractured jaw and severe bruising.
Detective Constable Sarah McDonnell, investigating the assault told Heart they are treating the attack as racially motivated.
"We take all reports of hate crime extremely seriously: it will not be tolerated and we are determined to bring those responsible to justice," she said.
"Despite numerous inquiries at the scene − speaking to witnesses and gathering CCTV - we are yet to identify those behind the assault.
"We are now keen to speak to the men circled in these images as we believe they may have information relevant to our investigation. I would urge anyone who knows their identity to call us."
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
