Two former British soldiers including one from the West Midlands have spoken out about their decision to volunteer to fight in Syria.

James Hughes from Worcestershire and Jamie Read from Scotland travelled to the country to join Kurdish forces and fight against Islamic State Militants.

They said they chose to volunteer because they 'couldn't sit back and watch innocent people like aid worker Alan Henning being killed'.

The pair say they made a vow to kill themselves if they were ever captured by I.S.
