High Speed Rail 2 given go-ahead

The Government has given the go-ahead to the £32 billion HS2 route

The high-speed rail route between Birmingham and London was first announced by Lord Adonis two years ago.

Transport Secretary Justine Greening will give it the green light on Tuesday the 10th of January, with reports that double-decker trains will be introduced to transport 1,000 people at a time.

However, there is still huge anger at the route which goes directly through the West Midlands
