A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a mother and her nine-month-old son in Birmingham.
The bodies of the 25-year-old woman and her baby were found dead at their home in the Billesley area of the city on Sunday morning.
The victims have yet to be formally identified but are believed to be Yvonne Walsh aged 25 and her son Harrison Walsh (known as Harry) aged seven months.
Police discovered the bodies of the two at around 10.30am yesterday (Sunday 2 June).
Post mortems will take place today to determine the cause of death.
A 28-year-old man arrested in the Sandwell area on suspicion of both murders is currently in a secure facility following an assessment by mental health professionals. He is currently deemed unfit to be interviewed by officers at this stage, but this is being constantly reviewed.
The person in custody is known to the victims and officers are keen to stress that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the killings.
Forensic examinations of the house in Chells Grove are ongoing this morning and investigations are ongoing. Local officers continue to provide reassurance patrols in the area.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area late Saturday night or early Sunday morning are urged to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
A serious case review and a domestic homicide review are expected to take place in due course, as is routine practice when a child dies in these circumstances.
Due to previous contact between police and the person in custody, West Midlands Police has informed the Independent Police Complaints Commission who will look into any police involvement in due course.
They are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
A friend of the woman, who did not want to be named, said: ''It's really shocking. They think she's been dead since Friday.''
A neighbour commented: ''She was a very private woman. She went out to work at 7am. Her boyfriend was always babysitting.''
