Police investigating the death of a Birmingham dad have charged a man with murder.

The body of 50 year-old Baljit Singh, who went missing the day before Christmas Eve when he left his home to get a birthday cake for his son, was found in the basement of a house in Rowley Regis in Sandwell on New Year's Day.

A post mortem examination showed Mr Singh, from Meadow Road in Harborne, had died as a result of head injuries and a knife wound to the neck.

32 year-old Stuart Millership, of no fixed abode, will appear before Wolverhampton magistrates on Monday.

A 27-year-old woman arrested at the same time has been released on police bail pending further enquiries and a 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman from Kingswinford also remain on police bail.
