Man Jailed For High Speed Chase
A 30-year-old man has been jailed for 18 months for a high speed chase in Wolverhampton.
Dilip Patel from Wolverhampton was spotted speeding back in May, and went as fast as 80mph during the police chase that started on Stubby Lane at two in the morning.
After 25 minutes his tyres began to disintegrate and he ran into nearby fields before being arrested.
He was charged with dangerous driving and driving while disqualified and has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Sergeant Matt Cooper said: "The high speed chase may have happened at a time when most people would have been tucked up in bed, but that does not make it any less reckless.
"This is a great sentence following some very stupid decisions made by Mr. Patel, which could have ended quite differently."
Counter-terrorism officers were dispatched to an address in Nuneaton, thought to be connected to the Manchester Arena suicide bomb attack investigation.
Soldiers are being deployed across the UK to help police but not in the West Midlands.
