Firefighters in the West Midlands Fire Service are launching their brand new fire kit today.
It's part of the fire service's 8 year cost saving deal and has new safety features such as a new helmet with built in safety glasses and a light-weight more breathable fabric.
Vij Randeniya, Chief Fire Officer said “Our Firefighters are amongst the very best in the world and it is important that we do everything we can to enhance their personal safety.
“As well as offering excellent safety and comfort, this kit also demonstrates exceptional value for money which is crucial to us given the financial challenges we face over the next four years”.
The eight year contract with Bristol Uniforms provides a total cost saving of approximately £1.4million compared to the previous contract.
