Postal Workers Protest in Birmingham

Hundreds of postal workers and supporters have been out with banners and flags, protesting in Birmingham over plans to sell off the Royal Mail.

The march around the city centre is against current plans made by the coalition government.

Steve Reid from the Communication Workers Union has been one of the people leading the demonstration.

He's been telling Heart that he doesn't want the Royal Mail to be sold off as he fears it will never be the same again.

He's worried the service will suffer if it becomes privatised and added that he thinks it will lead to higher prices and post office closures.

However, the Royal Mail have told us they support the privatisation bill, saying it IS vital for the future of the company if they are going to resolve their multi million pound debt.

They added that it will allow the Royal Mail much needed private investment.
