TB rise in the West Midlands
There's a warning about the growing number of cases of TB in the West Midlands.
We have the highest rates of Tuberculosis outside of London with over a thousand cases a year - with one new case every day in Birmingham alone.
It mainly affects people who weren't born in this country.
Dr Christopher Ellis is a specialist from Heartlands Hospital and told Heart what to look out for:
- Persistent cough
- Weightloss
- Fever (especially during the night)
"If you get 2 to 3 of theses symptoms it's best to see a doctor. If caught early it can be easily treated within 6 months"
