Heart's been told a teenager who was hit by a police car in Birmingham has died in hospital.
16 year old Harry Kirkham, from Kingstanding, was hit in Erdington on Wednesday night as he crossed Sutton New Road.
It happened outside the local police station and the officer, who is based in Sutton Coldfield, was not thought to be responding to an emergency call at the time.
Harry had just left church with friends when the collision happened.
Chief Inspector Neil Hobson, from West Midlands Police, said: "No parent should have to lose a child, particularly in such tragic circumstances.
"This evening (19 March) our thoughts are with Harry's family following their tragic loss."
"As Harry was hit by a police car West Midlands Police has informed the Independent Police Complaints Commission who continue to be updated."
The statement on the police's website also reveals that the officer involved in the collision has been left traumatised, but is helping with the investigation and being questioned by the Professional Standards Department.
Those in the area at the time have been spoken to and CCTV footage is also being looked at to work out what happened.
