Teenager In Court After Street Robbery In Birmingham
A 16-year-old girl has appeared in court accused of involvement in a street robbery in Birmingham which went viral on Facebook.
The teenager, who cannot be named, appeared before a closed court after reporters were denied access to a hearing in Birmingham.
Prosecutors allege the girl was involved in a robbery in the Northfield area of the city on July 11.
Following the hearing at Birmingham Youth Court, reporters were told the defendant had been granted unconditional bail until September 14.
District Judge Jack McGarva said he had decided that reporters should remain outside the courtroom after being informed that the girl was distressed.
The magistrate said he had also been told that papers were not ready and the case would be adjourned.
It is understood that no plea was taken during the hearing, which is thought to have lasted for around five minutes.
