Toddler Who Died In Wolverhampton Had More Than 100 Injuries
The mum and step dad of a toddler who died in Wolverhampton have appeared in court accused of causing him more than 100 injuries.
The court heard two year-old had injuries including a skull fracture and bite mark on his chest.
The 27 and 25-year-old's are charged with murder and have been remanded in custody.
A post-mortem examination showed he died of abdominal peritonitis caused by blunt force trauma.
Police and paramedics were called to an address in High Street, Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, shortly before midnight on Sunday, where the child was found with head and bodily injuries.
In a brief hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday, Sindyann Regis, 25, of High Street, Wednesfield, and 27-year-old Chevaze Mcgregor, of New Road in Rainford, Essex, spoke only to confirm their names.
The court heard that Jeremiah's injuries included a complex skull fracture, a significant bite mark to his chest and 100 specified injuries to his body
Judge James Burbidge adjourned the case until December when the defendants will be invited to enter pleas, and set a provisional two-week trial date for April 25 next year.
The judge told the pair: "If you deny the charge, you'll stand trial on the 25th of April.''
"In the meantime I remand you in custody.''
