West Midlands Police Officer Dragged By Getaway Van

West Midlands Police have released footage of an officer being flung to the ground trying to stop a getaway van in Birmingham.

Officers were called to a tile company in Upper Balsall Heath Road following reports of a burglary in progress.

The 34 year old officer grabbed the door before it then drove off at high speed - he only suffered minor injuries.

An investigation was launched into the burglary that happened at around 2am on 13 May and four men, aged 24 and 25, were arrested, they are all currently on police bail.

Detective Constable Michelle Beasley, from Stechford CID, said: "PC Lowe was extremely lucky on the night in question, the people in the van showed a complete disregard for him and he was left lying in the street.

"His injuries could have been far worse, even life threatening.

P.C Lowe is now back in action with the police.
