Bid for second Trowbridge cinema

The man behind plans to turn an old Wiltshire pork pie factory into the site of a brand new cinema and leisure complex, comprising a Morrison's supermarket, has told Heart he is still going through with the project.

That is despite a rival group already getting planning permission earlier this month for a cinema, hotel, restaurants and bars on the site of the old Tesco in Trowbridge. 

Heart has received an email, saying that the team wishing to transform the old Bowyer's factory would not be withdrawing their application or modifying it in light of planning permission being granted for a different project at St. Stephen's Place.

In a statement to Heart, Director of Prorsus, who want to create Innox Riverside said: 

"Any development that delivers leisure facilities to Trowbridge is good news. We hope that councillors will now seize the wider opportunity to fully transform the town centre and give Innox Riverside on the Bowyer's site the green light. 

"Innox Riverside is fully funded and therefore deliverable. It will create 400 new jobs and has commitment of Prezzo, Frankie and Benny's, Morrison's and Cineworld. 

"All that is required now is for Wiltshire Council to approve our application."

However, rival developers Legal and General, who are aiming to transform the old Tesco site near Trowbridge park, told Heart last week that they plan to start preparing the land this weekend (25th-26th February).

The Innox Riverside application could be discussed by councillors on March 15th at the next meeting of the Trowbridge area board, but at time of publication of this article, an agenda had not yet been produced.
