Dog walk scheme in Swindon

Over 100 dog walkers in part of Swindon have signed up to help 'collar' a criminal.

Two months ago police in Highworth started a Dog Walk Watch scheme to get owners to report anything suspicious when they are out with their pets.

The scheme, thought to be the first of it's kind in the country, was the idea of PC Frank Key:

''We not asking them to do anything more than they would normally do out walking their dog. We don't want them to get involved in anything, just if they see anything suspicious, give us a call, we don't want them to put themselves at risk at all.''

It is hoped the scheme will be rolled out across the rest of Swindon this summer.
