Wiltshire Police appeal for help from the public

Wiltshire Police want members of the public to rack their brains as they investigate a rape in Swindon a week ago.

A 39 year old woman was forced into a car in Alfred Street last Monday night before being driven to another part of town, where she was attacked.

Police say they want the people of Swindon to think back in the hope someone may remember something.

The vehicle has been described as a dark coloured car, possibly black, but no distinguishing features are known.

The offender is described as a black man, approximately 5’ 8" tall, medium build, short black hair, and was wearing rectangular framed glasses.

Detective officers are currently examining CCTV footage from the areas involved.

Detective Inspector Andy Bridge is appealing for information from the public, which will assist in tracing this man, as follows:-

"Any person who was in the vicinity of Alfred Street/Manchester Road at the relevant times, who may have seen a woman being forced into a car.
Any person who may have seen or heard any unusual activity in the vicinity of Spring Gardens car park at the relevant times,
Any person who may know or have suspicions as to the identity of this man
to contact the Wiltshire Police as a matter of urgency on 0845 408 7000, or if preferred anonymous information may be left by ringing the Crimestoppers number of 0800 555111."

Detective Inspector Bridge guarantees strict confidentiality to all callers.
