The Government has told Wiltshire Council there needs to be an extra 85 residential pitches, and 27 transit pitches in the county.

A series of drop in events has now been organised for people to find out more about the plans, and to help decide where these new pitches should go.

Gypsy and Traveller pitch allocations form part of the council’s responsibility to provide for the housing needs of everyone and they need to be sited where they too can make use of community facilities, such as shops, schools and doctor surgeries.

The drop in events are planned for:

* 11 May,  Wessex Room, Corn Exchange, Devizes
* 13 May, Meeting Room, City Hall, Salisbury
* 19 May, Neeld Hall, Chippenham
        - This is a revised date replacing the original meeting scheduled for 5 May.

The drop in events will be open from 4pm until 8pm.

All information is available on the Wiltshire Council website, or at any of the main offices in Chippenham, Devizes, Salisbury and Trowbridge and at local libraries.

Comments must be received by 5pm Friday 4 June 2010.
