Help homeless teenagers

Families are needed to provide short term beds for homeless kids across Wiltshire. A new Host Family Scheme's being launched where people will provide emergency accomodation for 16 and 17 year olds. Homeless young people will stay with local families on a short term basis (3 weeks) to give them time out. This will allow for mediation to take place so more young people can return home.

In return the Wiltshire Accommodation Support Scheme 4 Young People (WASS4YP) will provide support to the family and the young person during their stay. A daily allowance will be paid to cover expenses.

Liz Montague, development worker at WASS4YP, explains: “There are many reasons why young people become homeless, often through no fault of their own. We want to work with these young people to help them resolve issues and return to their families. This scheme will help with this process and we would urge local people who want to help to come forward.”

People interested in joining the scheme should contact Liz Montague on 07919045656 or liz.montague@wiltshire.gov.uk or Sue Nash on 07789940970 or sue.nash@wiltshire.gov.uk.
