The Mela in Swindon has been given the go ahead for this summer. it will be held on 31st July.

There were concerns about safety and that it had become too big to hold in the Old Town Gardens. Last year 20 thousand people went to it. The council, fire service and police talked to organisers this week about their concerns.

Dinesh Gohil is one of the organisers.  He said:
"The park itself is not too big, not too small.  it's just perfect for the size and number of people we get.

"We can organise some of our stalls differently, we can block off certain areas which will make it easier for people to go around different parts of the park rather than having some 'pinch' points."

The Mela is a non-profit making organisation and relies on support from local businesses.  Organisers are looking for sponsors and volunteers for the event - to get involved you can contact the organisers
