Wiltshire website finds jobs for army wives

Wives and girlfriends of troops in the armed forces are getting help to find a job.

A new website has been set up by a Wiltshire army wife to help others who find themselves based away from family and friends and desperate to get back into work.

www.recruitforspouses.co.uk was the idea of Heledd Kendrick, who says moving around so often makes it tough for many women to find work:

''We move around every two years really and as soon as you settle into a new home, find a new school for your children, that kind of thing, finding a job is even harder and there are a lot of companies who think you're not going to be around for very long, as our husbands are being deployed a lot more than normal.

''We're away from family, we're away from friends, we're often based away from a local town, we don't have our network of support as we'd usually have. If you'd been used to working, which I had before I got married, you're in a house and you just want to get to know some locals really, it's really hard and confidence gets really knocked.''
