When your voice doesn't suit your job...

4th September: Hear me out on this one - but have you ever noticed how some people have a voice that doesn't quite suit their job?

This discovery was brought home to me the other night, as I lay back to listen to a relaxation video on Youtube.

As I was trying to relax and drift off to sleep, I was met with the not-so-relaxing tones of this man. I'm sure he's perfectly nice and all that - in fact, his accent isn't that different to my husband's - but it's not what I was expecting to accompany the sound of panpipes...

Sharon from Westbury knows what I'm on about. She text us to say, "I know what you mean, have you ever heard the real life accent of Pam St Clements? She plays Pat on Eastenders and sounds totally different! Clearly her accent didn't suit her job!!!"

And then we had legendary voice-over artist Redd Pepper on to discuss how some voices are better suited to certain jobs. As a man who makes his living from his voice, he's a bit of an expert on the subject...
