The Halifax Giving Extra Awards celebrate all the people who go above and beyond to help others in their local communities.
In the second year of the Awards - promoted here on Heart - thousands of people around the country nominated people they thought would be deserving of recognition for giving extra in their lives. There were 67 local winners from around the country, and from them a national winner was chosen.
Step forward Fiona Hamilton-Fairley, nominated by a Heart listener and this year's Halifax Giving Extra Award national winner!
See the video above to see her story.
Fiona runs the Kids’ Cookery School, which aims to give every child a unique and fun cooking experience, helping them make informed decisions about food, diet and nutrition. She has worked with over 65,000 families, kids and young people across London, many of whom have severe physical or learning disabilities or have been excluded from mainstream education – giving them a place to make friends and learn.
Fiona is just one of many amazing people playing their part in the year of giving extra. Visit halifax.co.uk/givingextraawards to read the inspiring stories from all this years' Giving Extra Award local winners.
