Police find £5 million worth of drugs in Wirral

Eight people have been arrested after police found £5 million pounds worth of drugs in properties across the Wirral.

Six men and two women were all arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with the intent to supply.

Raids were carried out at seven addresses in New Brighton, Wallasey, Bidston and Heswall.

In an address in Wallasey police found £500,000 worth of heroin.

Officers also recovered £1 million pounds worth of cannabis from a property in Bidston.

After these raids police searched a house in Greater Manchester finding £3.5 million pounds worth of cannabis.

Matthew Maguire, 37, of Hogarth Drive, Noctorum has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.

Kim Hodgin, 25, of Tollemache Road, Bidston has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs.

Derek Belshaw, 47, of Drummers Lane, Wigan has been charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply.

Gary Clare, 49, The Cliff, New Brighton has been charged with three counts of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and one count of possession with intent to supply.

All four have been remanded in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court.

The four other people arrested were interviewed and released on bail pending further enquiries.
