Tunnel tolls will be more expensive

Drivers on Merseyside will start paying more money to travel through the tunnels between Liverpool and Wirral.

Councillors have voted to increase the price by 10 pence.

It will mean each trip through the tunnel will cost £1.50.

John McGoldrick from the Mersey Tunnel Users Association says they will continue to campaign to get then scrapped.

He said:

"Our main aim is there are no tolls at all because we think that would be good for everyone - especially the economy.

"Obviously any toll increase is moving in the wrong direction."
