Attempted abduction in North Wales

A man has tried to abduct a woman in her late teens at a bus stop in North Wales.

It happened at 8.15am last Thursday (23 September) in Rhostyllen near Wrexham.

Police say the man was in a Blue Volvo 240 estate car when he repeatedly offered the girl in her late teens a lift.  She refused and then he tried to force her into his car at a bus stop in Church Street, Rhostyllen.

The woman managed to get away unhurt.

The man is described as white, in his late 30's to early 40's; 5ft 8-5ft 9 tall, of stocky build, with short brown hair. He was wearing a black jacket and dark bottoms.

The car's bonnet is described as slightly darker than the rest of the car.

DS Eleri Deverell from Wrexham CID said: "This is an extremely unusual and rare incident. North Wales Police are committed to investigating this offence, and I would urge anyone with any information about this male to contact Wrexham CID."
