Cameras hidden in crossing lollipops

School crossing patrols are having cameras installed in their lollipops to help catch dangerous drivers.

It's being trialled in Flintshire to try and make the walk to school safer for parents and kids.

The idea is the camera will catch any drivers who fail to stop for the crossing patrol when they walk into the road to stop the traffic.

Tom Holmes has been a Lollipop Man for 7 years and has been waiting for this to come in for ages.

He said:

"The safety is paramount and I want to stress to everyone that it's a £1000 fine and three points on your licence if you fail to stop."

The scheme is being tried out in different locations in Flintshire but could eventually be used across Wales.
