Missing Ellesmere Port man body found

The body of a man who went missing on his sisters wedding day six months ago has been found near a railway line in Cheshire.

38 year old John Burke from Ellesmere Port disappeared back in August and hadn't been seen.

British Transport Police say there was no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A spokesman for BTP said:

 "The body of a man found in woodland in Chester last week has been formally identified.

"John Michael Thomas Burke, 38, from Ellesmere Port, was found near the railway line in Backford, Chester last Tuesday, 15th February. There were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. HM Coroner has been informed and BTP will now assist in the compilation of a report for the coroner.

"John Burke was subject to an extensive missing persons investigation led by Cheshire Police after he was reported missing by his family last August.

"His next of kin have been informed and request that their privacy be respected at this time."
